At the Research Institute for Development Policy and Strategy (IDPS), our journey began with a simple but powerful belief: sustainable national development requires informed leadership, evidence-based policy, and empowered communities.
Growing up in Sri Lanka, I witnessed firsthand how social divisions, educational inequality, and policy gaps can limit opportunities for many communities. These experiences shaped my conviction that long-term transformation cannot be achieved through temporary solutions alone. It requires strategic thinking, research-driven frameworks, and accountable governance.
IDPS was established to bridge the gap between grassroots realities and decision-making institutions. Our mission is to translate community challenges into structured policy dialogue and practical development strategies grounded in research and scientific analysis.
We believe education is the foundation of social harmony and economic progress. We believe youth must be active contributors to governance, not passive observers. And we believe that inclusive development is possible when transparency, knowledge, and ethical leadership guide our actions.
As Founder, my vision for IDPS is to cultivate a platform where research informs action, where communities are empowered through knowledge, and where sustainable solutions are developed with long-term national interest in mind.

IDPS prioritizes district-level and provincial research within the Eastern Province, engaging directly with local communities, institutions, and development stakeholders to ensure context-sensitive and practical policy insights.

National Scope:
Sri Lanka

Building from its regional foundation, the Institute contributes to national research dialogue and long-term development strategies aimed at strengthening policy and institutional effectiveness across Sri Lanka.
